サイモンとガーファンクルの１９７０年（昭和４５年）のヒット曲、と言うことはくまさんまだ大学生の頃ですね。 原題は「Bridge Over the Trouble Water」 ですから「苦難の川にかかる橋」とでもいうところです。上手く訳したもんですね。この時期は「明日」が流行だったこともあります。映画では同年「明日に向かって撃て」がヒットしています。この映画も原題は「Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid」で、明日には全然関係ないんです。 あなたが苦しんでいる時、私はあなたのために身を打って助けるよ・・・・と言った歌詞が付いています。同年の同じような意味の歌詞の歌があります。「Diana Ross / Ain't No Mountain High Enough」という歌で、こっちの歌詞も「あなたがトラブルにある時、私はきっとあなたのそばに行きます、どんな高い山でも構わない・・・・」という歌詞です。 またこの曲は、一時は過去の人として忘れ去られようとしていたエルヴィス・プレスリーが復活した映画「エルヴィス　ＯＮ　ステージ」の中でもカバーされて歌われていますね。これも聴き応えのある仕上がりです。
